Ben Rhodes Race Preview – UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Event on Saturday, July 28th, 2012, at Caraway Speedway (NC)
15-year-old Kentucky racer Ben Rhodes, driver of the #9 Stanley / Alpha Energy Solutions Ford Fusion for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, is heading to Caraway Speedway (NC) on Saturday, July 28th, for the 150-lap UARA-STARS Late Model Stock event. The race is the ninth stop on the series tour and the only event at the Asheboro, North Carolina, track in 2012. Rhodes currently sits fourth in the series points standings, 127 points out of first place.
Rhodes on Racing at Caraway Speedway: “I am looking forward to going back to Caraway Speedway. We raced there a few weeks ago, and while our practice sessions went well, we had to make a change in the car due to the rules NASCAR has different than UARA, so it set us back a bit in the race. Our UARA set-up is strong, so we should be fast this weekend.”
Rhodes on Recent Test at Caraway Speedway: “Even though we felt we had a great car after NASCAR weekend, we tested the #9 Stanley / Alpha Energy Solutions Ford this past Friday and Saturday there and found a few more improvements to make the car faster. The temperature was a bit cooler during the day due to weather in the area, so it gave us more of a true track temperature for race conditions. The entire Marcos Ambrose Motorsport team is looking forward to the race.”
Rhodes on Momentum after Newport: “We had a really good finish at Newport Speedway. After getting spun, the team really rallied together and we were able to drive back up through the field to finish fifth, getting the Rookie of the Race award. Billy Smith and all the guys on the team have a never-give-up attitude, and that carried us through the end of the race.”
