15-year-old Kentucky racer Ben Rhodes, driver of the #9 Stanley / Alpha Energy Solutions Ford Fusion for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, is heading to Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) on Saturday, September 1st, for the Bobby Isaac Memorial Late Model Stock 150-lap event.  Rhodes has finished in the top five for all five events he has entered this season at HMS with a highest finish of second (June 23rd).

Rhodes on Returning to Hickory Motor Speedway: “I am looking forward to racing the Bobby Isaac Memorial at Hickory Motor Speedway.  Not only is it a great event honoring a legend in our sport, but it is at a track I really enjoy racing at.  I started my Late Model career at Hickory last year and have had some great runs there.  It is going to be a tough event with over 30 of the best Late Model Stock drivers racing in it, but I am ready to see what we can do.”

Rhodes on Returning to School: “This is my sophomore year at Holy Cross (Louisville, Kentucky).  We just started back to school last week.  They have been great to work with so I can continue getting my education and race as well on the weekends.  I believe an education is very important to keep the mind sharp, and a lot of what I have learned in school has helped me deal with real-life situations in the motorsports industry.”

On Staying Fit Outside the Race Car: “During the summer I attended CrossFit classes in North Carolina.  Now that I am back in Kentucky, I have found a great CrossFit place here that I go to often.  I also run cross country with my classmates at school.  When I am not in the race car, I am making sure I do what I need for my body and mind so when I am behind the wheel I can focus on the task at hand without getting mentally or physically drained.”
