A week before his next UARA-STARS Late Model Stock event in the #9 Stanley Ford Fusion for Marcos Ambrose Motorport, Ben Rhodes joined Richard Petty Motorsports and Marcos Ambrose at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series “Goody’s Fast Relief 500” at Martinsville Speedway (VA) as a guest on Sunday, April 1st. This was the second event during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season Rhodes has joined Ambrose at the track to continue learning about the top division in NASCAR.
Rhodes spent the morning in the pit area, scoping out the track and meeting people, including fans.
“Martinsville Speedway is such a cool track,” said Rhodes. “I had fun in the morning looking around and talking to people at the track about the sport and the racing at Martinsville Speedway. It was also pretty cool meeting some fans there, including a fan of Marcos that approached me and asked me if I was Ben Rhodes, driver of Marcos’ Late Model.”
Before the start of the race, Ambrose’s spotter Tim Fedewa once again took Rhodes to the spotters’ stand to watch the race from above. Not only did Rhodes have a great place to watch the race from, it gave him valuable knowledge for his trip back to Martinsville Speedway in his own race car in the fall.
“I want to thank Richard Petty Motorsports, Marcos Ambrose, and Tim Fedewa once again for allowing me to join Tim up in the spotters’ stand,” explained Rhodes. “This was very educational as I learned a lot about how drivers race the race track. What I learned I will be able to apply to my own racing here later this year in the #9 Stanley Ford Fusion Late Model.”
Next up for Rhodes and the Marcos Ambrose Motorsport #9 Stanley Ford Fusion will be the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock event on Saturday, April 7th, at Dillon Motor Speedway (SC).
