News and Notes:
- Take me back to Texas 2018: Ben Rhodes will make his seventh NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series start at the 1.5-mile track Friday in the Vankor 350. In six previous starts, the ThorSport Racing driver has led three laps and tallied two top-five and top-10 finishes. His best start at the track is seventh (June 2017) and best finish is second (November 2018).
- 2019 Stats: In four starts this season, Rhodes has led 32 laps en route to two top-five and top-10 finishes (Atlanta, Martinsville). The Carolina Nut driver has a best start of sixth (Atlanta), an average start of 15.8, and an average finish of 11.5.
- Race Rewind: Rhodes’ run at Martinsville Speedway on March 23 was a solid day having started 16th. He drove the Ford F-150 through the field to a 12th-place finish in Stage 1 and to finish Stage 2 in second. He maintained second throughout the final stage of the TruNorth Global 250 bringing the No. 99 Carolina Nut across the finish line in second place, a series track best finish.
Chatting with Rhodes:
“The fun thing about Texas Motor Speedway is that it is slowly changing every time we go there. The track is losing grip and gaining bumps—things that drivers like. I’m hoping that with the progress that my team has made this year on our intermediate trucks, that we will attack these challenges with no problems. Our Carolina Nut F-150 is always fast in the race but I think we will qualify better at Texas too.”
