After his first test in the Fat Head Racing Late Model at the end of May, Legends Young Lions division driver Ben Rhodes caught the attention of NASCAR superstar Marcos Ambrose, who wanted to see the 14-year-old phenom for himself. On Wednesday, June 15th, Ambrose met with Rhodes at his second Late Model test with Fathead Racing at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway (NC).
“I had a great time at the test, and it was my honor meeting Marcos Ambrose,” said Rhodes. “He has years of experience in the motorsports world, and he was able to give me great feedback. I appreciate Marcos taking time out of his schedule to come to the track.”
Rhodes once again had a successful test at Hickory, turning fast laps while keeping the car stable during long runs.
“At our first test, we focused more on just getting comfortable in the car and getting to know each other,” explained Rhodes. “This test we worked on getting the car handling and getting up to speed. Jamie Yelton, Lee McCall and the entire Fat Head Racing group were great to work with, and we were able to get the car fast and keep me comfortable while turning laps. We were all very happy after the test, and I cannot wait to get back in the Late Model for a few more tests and make my first start in a big car soon.”
