Ben Rhodes Race Preview – UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Event on Saturday, August 4th, 2012, at Concord Speedway (NC)
15-year-old Kentucky racer Ben Rhodes, driver of the #9 Stanley / Alpha Energy Solutions Ford Fusion for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, is heading to Concord Speedway (NC) on Saturday, August 4th, for the 150-lap UARA-STARS Late Model Stock event. The race is the 10th stop on the series tour and the only event at the Concord, North Carolina, track in 2012. Rhodes, in his rookie season, currently sits ninth in the series points standings, 238 points out of first place.
Rhodes on Racing at Concord Speedway: “The Concord Speedway is probably one of the more different race tracks I have been to. It is shaped more like a triangle than a traditional oval, and with the elevation change it somewhat feels like a rollercoaster. I am looking forward to the challenge of racing on such a unique track.”
Rhodes on Testing at Concord: “Last week we tested at Concord Speedway. Due to the heat making the track greasy and really slick, we only got in a few hours of practice, but it was a lot of fun and we learned a lot in those few hours. We will be back at the track on Friday for the series practice session prior to Saturday’s race so we can get our car dialed in for the race.”
Past Experience at Concord Speedway: “I have won many events at Concord Speedway, but that was on the quarter-mile oval in a Legends Car. I have only watched races on the half-mile big track, so this will be my first time racing it. I am excited for Saturday.”
