Ben Rhodes Race Preview – Daggett Shuler Attorneys At Law Rusty Harpe Memorial Firecracker 200 July 4th at Caraway Speedway (NC)

15-year-old Kentucky racer Ben Rhodes, driver of the #9 Stanley / Alpha Energy Solutions Ford Fusion for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, is heading to Caraway Speedway (NC) for the first time in a Late Model on Wednesday, July 4^th, for the Daggett Shuler Attorneys At Law Rusty Harpe Memorial Firecracker 200 event. The special event is $5000 to win with Rhodes making his debut at the track in a Late Model.

Rhodes on Racing at Caraway in a Late Model: “Caraway Speedway is a fast track with a very narrow groove, so it will provide an exciting challenge for us. We are heading to the track to test on Monday and practice on Tuesday to prepare for racing on Wednesday.”

On Winning in a Legends Car at Caraway: “In May of last year I did get some experience on the track, but it was in a Legends car. I was able to earn the fastest time during qualifying. I started fourth after an invert in the Semi-Pro / Young Lions feature, drove to the front and won the race. Racing there in a Legends is a lot different than a Late Model, but it gave me some track time to understand how the track reacts throughout the night. It might not be a huge advantage, but it will give me something to build on this week.”

On Beating the Heat: “It has been extremely hot across the country this past week with the temperatures expected around the 100 degree mark at the track as well this week. As a team we make sure everyone stays hydrated throughout the day, and I have been loading up on all the things I need to keep me strong and focused in the car during the hot part of the day. Having the race at night time will help, but the temperature is expected to be fairly high still so I am making sure I have plenty of water in the car.”

On Spending the Last Week in Kentucky: “I had a great time in my home state of Kentucky during the NASCAR weekend. I met some great people in Carrollton (KY) for Race Fest and also at Kentucky Speedway in the infield all three days signing autographs in the Fan Zone. I have to thank my sponsor Alpha Energy Solutions as well as Kentucky Speedway for having me there.”
