The 2011 Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) continued on Monday, July 11th, and Tuesday, July 12th, with two days of racing action on a hot and slick track. With two more solid finishes in the Legends Young Lions division, Ben Rhodes is still the driver on top of the points as the series has three races left to determine the champion.
On Monday, in the round four make-up race, Rhodes raced his car to a second-place finish after having mechanical trouble with the car during the event. On Tuesday, in round seven, Rhodes was shuffled back, but was able to finish fourth.
After round seven, the series resets the points, dropping a driver’s worst points finish for a run to the championship in the final three races. After the reset, Rhodes is unofficially on top with a 30-point advantage.
