Ben Rhodes headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) on Tuesday, July 19th, for the eighth round of the 2011 Summer Shootout Series. The Young Lions division racer started the feature event looking for a strong run, but after the car had a few mechanical issues, Rhodes pulled his car into the pit area, retiring early from the race.
“I was just pacing myself early in the race when the car just shut off,” said Rhodes. “It picked back up, but I was way back in the pack. I started to move forward through the field and it shut off again. Rather than risk causing a wreck if it happened again and ruin someone else’s race, I decided to go ahead and pull it into the pits.
“It is a disappointing finish, but it happens sometimes. We will not let it get us down and will come back next week for the final two Shootout races.”
