During the 2011 race season, the Kentucky Speedway (KY) quarter-mile oval on the front stretch of the big track was completely torn up and redone. Delays with weather kept the Legends Cars from racing on the track for a few months, but Ben Rhodes, a Kentucky native, and other Legends drivers eventually got to take to the track on Saturday, July 16th, for feature racing action. Rhodes, a Young Lions division driver, was able to drive his #4 machine to the victory as the first driver to win on the new track.

“I really like this new track,” said Rhodes. “It is a lot smoother than the old track and it makes for a much better facility to race on.

“I would like to thank my team, family, friends and fans for their support. Every win is important, but this one was special since it was in my home state on the new track.”

Rhodes looked to double up by racing at the track once again on Sunday, but weather moved in, forcing the event to be canceled.
