LOUISVILLE, KY (June 17th, 2014) – On the heels of his fourth victory of 2014, 17-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native Ben Rhodes and the No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet Impala Turner Scott Motorsports team head to Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia, for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) “Visit Hampton 175” on Saturday, June 21st.  The NASCAR Next driver currently leads the championship and rookie of the year standings as the series starts the second half of the 16-race schedule.

Last Time Out… After starting second and leading laps in the first half of the race, Rhodes retook the lead in the late stages of the “Pensacola 150” at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, to earn his fourth NKNPSE victory of 2014, which was his third win in a row.  He now has victories this year in South Carolina, Iowa, North Carolina, and Florida.

Points Leader at Halfway… The Five Flags Speedway victory marked the end of the first half of the 16-race schedule, and helped extend Rhodes’ points lead from 49 points to 55 points heading in to Langley Speedway.  He also is the leading driver in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.

2014 Stat Tracker… After eight of the 16-race season, Rhodes has an average starting spot of 1.9 (four poles, three outside poles, and a fifth) and an average finish of 3.5.  He has completed all 1134 laps to date (the only driver to do so in 2014), leading 552 of them (49-percent of the laps).  He has four victories, seven top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes.

Ben Rhodes Quotes

What are your thoughts on Langley Speedway?  “I have some race experience at Langley Speedway, but not in a K&N car.  I raced there in Legends a few years back and last year I raced in a (NASCAR) Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock race.  I did go there with Turner Scott Motorsports last year to watch and learn, and a few weeks ago we had a great test session, so I am looking forward to going there and seeing what we can do this weekend.”

Langley Speedway starts the second half of the season.  Evaluate the first half.  “We have been very fortunate to have a great first half of 2014.  The four poles, four wins, and the points lead has given us a lot of positive momentum going into the second half of the year.  My Turner Scott Motorsports team has worked hard in the shop to give me a great Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet each time we unload at the track and fine tune it for the race.  Mark (McFarland, crew chief) and I have great communication, and that translates to our performance this year.  We are taking what we learned during the first half and applying it to the second half, and will see what happens.”
