LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 6th, 2013) – On Friday, June 7th, 16-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native Ben Rhodes will enter his third-career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event, this time at Iowa Speedway for the “Casey’s General Store 150” East-West combination.  Rhodes and his No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet with Turner Scott Motorsports have been fast in the two previous season starts, and the team is looking to capitalize on their strong runs.

In his series debut in March, Rhodes had the fastest car during final practice at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN) until hitting oil dropped from another car, slamming the wall.  Qualifying his back-up car in 21st with no previous laps on it, he raced to a ninth-place finish.  At Richmond International Raceway (VA) in April, Rhodes drove from 25th to within the top 10 before a mechanical issue curbed his run to the front.

“Even though the finishing positions do not show it, we have had great cars for both our K&N races this year,” said Rhodes.  “The Turner Scott Motorsports team has had the Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet fast, and after being out of the car for a month, I am anxious to get back in and race at Iowa Speedway.”

The combination East-West event will have many drivers from across the country trying to qualify their way into the field.  Rhodes and the No. 41 team do not have a provisional starting spot to fall back on, making qualifying crucial.

“We have to qualify our way in, so Friday’s practice will be important for us to make sure we will be good for qualifying,” said Rhodes.  “It might be a little stressful, but I am confident in my Turner Scott Motorsports team to have me a great car.  It will be up to me to turn that fast lap so we can race.  We are hoping the third time’s a charm and we not only qualify and race well, but contend for the win late in the race.”

In 2013, Rhodes is sponsored by Alpha Energy Solutions as well as Alliance Comfort Systems, Kentucky National Guard, Refrigerant Rescue, and Park Community Federal Credit Union.
