LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 18th, 2014) – After coming up just two laps short of victory in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East “PittLite 125” at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN), finishing third, 17-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native and NASCAR Next driver Ben Rhodes is excited to get back into the seat of his No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet Impala with Turner Scott Motorsports one week later to race in the “Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150” on Saturday, March 22nd, at Greenville Pickens Speedway (SC).

The fourth event in the 2014 K&N Pro Series East season will also be Rhodes’ fourth stop at the South Carolina track.

“We had a pretty good showing last year at Greenville Pickens Speedway,” said Rhodes.  “I led all the laps and won both Late Model Stock races I entered there in August with Hawk McCall Motorsports and had a decent run in the K&N Pro Series East race with Turner Scott Motorsports finishing sixth in September.”

Despite going to victory lane twice in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competition in 2013, Rhodes wasn’t necessarily looking forward to going back to the track this year until a recent test session changed his mind.

“Last year I wasn’t a big fan of the track,” chuckled Rhodes.  “In the K&N Pro Series East race I qualified way back in 19th and everyone just rode around saving tires like we were, so I was back in the pack most of the race.  I still had enough grip to get up to sixth, but the result wasn’t what we wanted.

“Last week we tested at the track and found some things that will help us in qualifying and during the race.  Mark (McFarland, crew chief) and the Alpha team got the car really fast and I am now very excited to head back to Greenville Pickens Speedway this weekend to see what we can do.”

Rhodes will enter the fourth race of the season third in the championship standings, just six points out of the lead, as well as being the leader in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.  He has two pole positions and two top-five finishes heading into Greenville.

“We have had a great year so far and we hope to carry the momentum of the first three races into Greenville and see if we can put the Alpha Energy Solutions Chevy in to victory lane Saturday.”

In 2014, Rhodes is sponsored by Alpha Energy Solutions as well as Alliance Comfort Systems, Kentucky National Guard, Refrigerant Rescue, and Park Community Federal Credit Union.
