Legends Young Lions racer Ben Rhodes spent the holiday week racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) in the Summer Shootout Series on Monday, July 4th, and Tuesday, July 5th. After the two days of racing, Rhodes still maintains the points lead in the most-prestigious series for Legends Cars nation wide.

On Monday, Rhodes looked to be on his way to a victory while leading the feature when another car made contact with his #4 machine, pushing him up the track. On the final lap, while battling on the outside line for the win, the third-place driver dove three wide going into turn three, taking out the all top-three drivers. Rhodes was credited with a 12th-place finish.

On Tuesday, Rhodes led laps in the feature event, but came up just a bit short, finishing second.

With his strong run so far in the 2011 Summer Shootout Series, Rhodes is the current points leader heading into the July 11th and 12th features at the track.
